Lovely simple puzzle
A nice puzzle for teaching shapes, colors and matching. Thick pieces, smooth edges, very sturdy and will hold up well in a toy box or classroom puzzle set.

Perfect for little hands
I have been searching for good puzzles for toddlers. I am a developmental specialist and work with infants and toddlers with special needs. I look for easy puzzles that have pieces that are easy for toddlers to pick up. I have always loved Melissa & Doug puzzles because they are always so well made and typically very age appropriate. I need puzzles that are sturdy and hold up well. I toss them in bags and in my trunk so they have to be able to take a good beating. Finding a simple shape puzzle that little toddlers hands can handle is not always the easiest. One of the assessment instruments I use, asks about toddlers being able to put shapes in puzzles. I am so excited to have found this one. It really seems to be a hit with kids.I really like this shape puzzle and have been recommending it to parents. Here are the things that I really like about this puzzle and using it for toddlers:- The puzzle has bright colors. This is great when using with young children to keep their attention.- When you take the puzzle piece out, the picture underneath is the same color as the shape piece.- The pieces are thick chunky pieces so even though it doesn’t have the little knobs on top, small, uncoordinated hands can get them in and out.- The entire puzzle piece is painted so that there is not any raw wood showing.I have been using this a ton and the kids really seem to love it. I love that some of the shapes are super easy to get in, like the circle, so that children with a lot of difficulty with puzzles can feel like they are successful.

heirloom quality
wonderful quality, to be expected from Melissa and Doug! Real wood, holds up well. This can be an heirloom toy, passed down over the years. No assembly required. My toddler uses it not only as a puzzle, but as color and shape recognition. We use the puzzle pieces in different ways, too – we put them in a sensory box. Great value for the money as we can use this for years!

LOVE Melissa & Doug Products!
I love Melissa and Doug products! I purchased a total of ten different themed “Chunky Wooden Puzzles,” for my niece and nephew…they are the perfect gift! The age is two and up, and although the recipients are only one and six months, I figured that they could “grow into them.” I always try to get fun yet educational gifts for family members and always go to Melissa and Doug. Quality, color and overall attractiveness are wonderful! Thank you!

Great quality
Got this for my daughter for Christmas when she was eight months old and she absolutely loves playing with it even though she can’t put the pieces back in their proper places yet she enjoys, taking them out and practicing her colors and shapes.

Great for children learning about their shapes.
We purchased these puzzles for Christmas. My son, 13m, loves learning about the shapes and what “fits” and does not “fit”. He grasped the circle quickly. The price is great. The design is simple and the colors make it fun for kids. My son is always banging on these blocks to make “music” so I’d say they hold up well.

Good first puzzle
Cute puzzle, easy to grab pieces. Same image printed on the puzzle as the piece for easy recognition and matching. Shapes fit well and are deep enough to not slide out. Can be a little bit of a hazard during the throwing stage as pieces are thick wood so slightly heavy. Really wish there was more variety in the colors rather than two green and two blue pieces. Purple, brown, white, black, grey… It would be much nicer to be able to use this for both a shape AND color teaching tool for toddlers who don’t quite yet get the nuances of naming light and dark shades.

Me agrado bastante el material. Creí que mi hija de 1 año 7 meses no estaría muy interesada. Pero le encantó desde el primer momento.
