The jacket material is not the same as the picture. It was thin and very cheap looking..

Nice jacket (and cute!) as a warm outer layer or mid layer as a down sweater under a bunting.
For reference: our baby is 10 months old, 17.5 lbs, 20 inches long, with an 18.25 inch head circumference. This coat fits a bit large, but is very usable at that 6-12 month range. He is small for his age (with the exception of his head, which fit great in this!), so I think the sizing range is fairly accurate on this jacket. The sleeves extend past his hands by about 1.5 inches, and the bottom hem extends to the bottom of his bum. I actually prefer this sizing since it allows me to add layers underneath for additional insulation, and to keep his hands inside the sleeves and thus warm. We live in a cold winter climate, and this jacket has been great for layering for walks and playing outside. For the following temperature guidelines: I gauged his comfort by checking forehead temp/armpit temp, and then feeling his extremities. If his hands/feet are cold, this indicates that his body was shunting bloodflow to his core to keep him warm, and the jacket wasn’t warm enough. When the temperature is between 40-50, I can use this jacket alone over a long sleeve/long pants outfit and he stays comfortably warm. When the temperature is 30-40, I use a thin fleece jacket underneath, an extra layer of leggings under the pants, a thin fleece beanie, and booties. When the temperature is below 30, I have used this jacket as an insulating layer underneath a full bunting (though this can be a bit tricky with sizing the two accurately), plus an insulated hat under the hood. With other insulated items, I am always concerned that if the baby drools on the neck/chin area, then the wet fabric will not insulate and will ultimately lead to him getting chilled–this did not have that issue to my experience. The jacket still insulated over his neck area even when wet with drool. The jacket is a cute fit, and the little ears on the hood are a cute addition. There are no pockets on the jacket, but at this age they would be only decorative anyway.
