We really like the Melissa & Doug Shape Sorting Cube. It’s a classic for a reason! The wood feels nice and solid, the colors are bright, and it’s a timeless activity that helps with shape recognition and fine motor skills.That said, we found it a bit more complicated than expected for a toddler. The shapes are difficult to find, and it takes a bit of patience (from both kiddo and grown-up) to figure out which shape fits where. Our little one didn’t quite get the hang of it right away, but with a bit of guidance and encouragement, it’s become a fun challenge rather than a frustration.If your toddler is newer to shape sorters or still working on coordination, expect a learning curve — but it’s totally worth it once they start mastering it. A great choice for growing minds, just anticipate a bit of teamwork at first!

Bought this for my 2 1/2 year old grandson, he has had hours of fun with it. Loves putting the shapes in the correct spots but also enjoys using the blocks to stack and build towers. Only thing he’s had difficulty with is learning how to slide the “top” back into the groove. It only goes in one way because it isn’t an exact square, and that frustrates him. If they had made it a perfect square it would be much easier for the little ones to be able to close it on their own. Wood is decent quality, and colors are pretty and bright.
