Fun toy for toddlers, preschoolers. Well-made
Well-made puzzle – no sharp corners or splinters, brightly colored with illustrations right where they belong (not skewed to right or left, etc). Pieces fit in the holes just right. Encourages creativity.

Great quality bear family wooden dress up play set.
This is an adorable wooden bear family dress up set. My 3 year old granddaughter love bears, and she will be thrilled to get this set for Christmas. It has 45 total pieces, and they are made very sturdy. I put a marker next to the bears, so you can see their size. Nice size for her to hold and play with.I also think the value of this set is very reasonable. Especially since it is a Melissa & Doug brand. We have many of their puzzles and toys.Very pleased and highly recommend.

    A fun toy for toddlers
So fun! My toddler loves to dress the bear family! She is three and I was concerned she would struggle with the different clothes only fitting one bear. But she quickly learned that this shirt is for baby bear and this face is mama bear’s face. This keeps her busy for hours and is a favorite toy for her to gravitate to!

They can do it! Better tip to make it doable at first and not too easy later
My 2.5 year old enjoys this toy and will be content doing this on her own for 20 minute stretches. It’s true, it is more challenging because the faces and clothes aren’t interchangeable (as other reviewers mentioned), but I think that’s a good thing! That’s the PUZZLE part! There’s a bit of a learning curve and your toddler may get frustrated at first, but it’s that challenge that I think holds their attention too (especially once they get a hang of it).I wouldn’t do the markers/stickers on the back thing. I think that is unnecessarily dumbing it down. They can do it! My daughter really figured it out at about 26 months(?) or so and now she whizzes through them (2.5 yrs).If your toddler gets super frustrated at first, just pick out one face and outfit for each bear and put the rest of the pieces away until they’re ready. Then they can still have the challenge later without getting overwhelmed in the beginning.I took one star off because I’m a bit disappointed by the gender stereotypes–Dad is always grumpy and Mom is always dressed as a homemaker in a skirt (like, why doesn’t she get a pair of overalls too?? or a firefighter’s uniform, or…?). The papa bear needs more emotional faces and the mom needs some better clothes.

Quality puzzle that can be modified to decrease the level of difficulty
The pieces are not all interchangeable. The momma, daddy and baby bear all have different size heads, bodies and feet This makes it extremely difficult for a 2 year old. There are different 5 heads and outfits for each bear making a total of 15 for all 3. I took out 2 full sets for each bear and stored the rest away in a zip lock bag. I picked outfits that have contrasting colors with the other bears so that my 2 year old granddaughter can easily complete each puzzle. The 15 bear heads all display different emotions. Our 2 year old did not like the angry and sad emotions so it made narrowing down the choices pretty easy. The full set would be a nice challenge for an older child. Modifying it by taking out pieces makes it a great puzzle for younger children.I love that I can adjust the difficulty by adding or taking away pieces. All of the pieces are stored nicely inside the box and our 2 year old can easily slide the lid off herself to access the pieces. The first photo shows the sets I keep in the box and the other photos show the remaining sets that I have stored away until our granddaughter gains more skills.

Bears AND dressing up, what’s not to love!?
I find that not all Melissa and Doug toys are built to the same quality but this is one of the good ones. There are no chips, splints or mismatched/badly stuck on pictures on this one. It is one of my daughters favourite toys that she plays with at least 5 days of the week every week and it keeps her attention for a good 5 – 10 minutes. She’s had this since she was 2 1/2 and is now 3 and still enjoys it. It’s good to travel with (as long as you put an elastic band around the box) to play with in a hotel room/grandma’s etc.
