Quality, Non Toxic, Hand Crafted, Educational Puzzle!
I love the Melissa & Doug line! Some of the reasons why-HandcraftedQualityNon-Toxic (important when you have kids who put everything in thier mouth)ValueThis puzzle has been a hit! I love Amazon too because I saw the same one a few weeks ago priced at 15.00 so I feel like I did great picking this up for less than 8.00!My son is 18 months, the recommended age says 2+ but he really has gravitated towards puzzles so if your child is younger than 2 and loves puzzles, I don’t see why this wouldn’t be appropriate, the pieces are big enough that they are not a choking hazard. The puzzle pieces are also educational, we do the puzzle together and we say the names of the pieces-plane, bus, ambulance ect…he enjoys that connection. His favorite piece is the bus lol and every time he sees a bus lately he has said bus! So I like the fact that these pieces are related to things we see regularly. Underneath the pieces are corresponding pictures that make it easier for them to match the piece. Puzzles are great for enhancing memory and hand eye coordination in little one’s.This non-electronic toy is played with more and used more for learning and development than any of the electronic toys I have, so it is well worth the price.

A great beginner puzzle
This puzzle was a gift for my son’s 2nd birthday. His favorite song is Wheels on the Bus and he loves pointing out buses everywhere we go, so I knew he would love it!Melissa and Doug make great quality puzzles. We have several from my oldest child that are 8+ years old and still holding up well. The pegs on this one are small but adequate for a toddler’s grasp. The picture is printed beneath the puzzle piece which makes it easy for younger children to match. We practice naming the vehicles and my son is getting great at putting pieces in by himself. This is wonderful fine motor practice. Soon we will “graduate” up to simple jigsaw puzzles and likely will seek out Melissa and Doug brand for those as well!

Good to add to collection of toys
I am a big fan of Melissa and Doug toys in general. In regards to puzzles, I believe they makes a few types of puzzles, the knob, peg and chuncky, all for different age ranges. The “pegs” on this particular puzzle are small. It is similar in size to the head of a thumb tac, so it is more suitable for toddlers who can finely grasp well with their thumb and index fingers, or with all of their fingers put together. The recommended age range for this toy is 2+ where as the knob puzzle is for 1+. Some folks mentioned that this puzzle is “flimsy.” Indeed it is “thinner” than the knob or chunky puzzle. The puzzle board itself is about 1 centimeter (9 millimeters to be exact). But then each puzzle piece itself is only 1/2 centimeter. Another review stated concern over the peg possibly coming off, but in my opinion, it is very secure. It does not appear “glued” on rather, “nailed” in. Another review states that the layers of the piece were coming apart. I have not had that problem, even though my one year old chews on the pieces. But I can see how it can since it is made of wood layers and wood tends to expand when wet. But, I have not experienced this. Overall, admittedly, was a bit concerned over the thiness of the puzzle, but got over it since you probably don’t want the pieces to be too big or too heavy to pick up with the small peg. Made for 2+ kids and will be more portable than the larger puzzle types.

Keeps Their Attention
I purchased this for my grandchild. I wanted to keep him occupied in a healthy way and this does just that. It requires enough effort so that I know that he’s learning while having fun. Is durable and retains its colors. It does require effort but reasonable such that he’s not bored with it.

Great starter puzzle!
This puzzle and several others were a birthday gift for my grandson turning 2. Because of the simple nature of this puzzle I don’t feel it will be used very long but because these are some of his first puzzles he was able to begin playing very quickly. He seemed to enjoy that he could recognize and name the ones he knew as he put the pieces in the base. He used the small knob when placing each piece and easily spun it around as he was making the piece fit. He started to cry before leaving because he didn’t realize the puzzles were going home with him. They were a hit! As with all of this brand of puzzles I have purchased over the years the quality is very good and would highly recommend them.

Initially for me, this vehicle puzzle was just one of the many puzzles my 2-year toddler owned. Then this became “THE PUZZLE”, soon after his newly found love for the vehicles became more and more profound.He loves to remove all the chunky blocks himself. I then mix them all up. For me it was truly admiring how his young mind quickly grasped the concept of rotating the blocks to achieve the right orientation.The puzzle is chunky with no sharp edges. What I quite liked is the different contour of each block which tests a toddler’s hand-eye coordination and helps sharpen it. The pegs were of great help before my toddler mastered his pincer grasp. It’s made up of very sturdy material and the puzzle had lasted with me for more than 1 year and remains in perfect condition.The price may be a bit high and I have bought I other puzzles that were cheaper, but they did not stand the test of time and many times were not baby safe.
